Digitize your Brownfield with 5G

Today we successfully finished our project „Connected Production” together with Cognex and Deutsche Telekom.

With a brown field approach we connected existing machinery to the device management platform Cumulocity. The platform is run on the Telekom “EdgeAir” edge cloud. Different producers, interfaces and ages of machines make it challenging to implement one IoT platform for the whole shopfloor. In our project we realised a scalable solution with the integration of a user friendly dashboard for device management.

Additionally, we explored the potential of 5G for mobile scanners, like hand-held scanner. In large numbers Cognex scanners are used in production and logistics processes and transmit data wirelessly. Connecting them via 5G and testing the potential against 4G connectivity showed interesting data for possible future use cases.
