We would like to welcome item Industrietechnik, the global market leader in modular systems for industrial applications, as a newly registered member of Center Connected Industry at the RWTH Aachen Campus.

item develops and sells solutions that make the construction of machines and plant equipment easier, cheaper and faster. The comprehensive product portfolio of more than 4000 components is complemented by innovative software and smart technologies. Thanks to the numerous item online tools, users can take full advantage of a continuous digital process chain from the project idea to its actual use. In the future, solutions will also be available for integrating operating resources into a networked production environment. This will build a bridge from the analogue to the digital world.

As the Center Connected Industry, we are pleased to be working together with item on expanding our successful product portfolio with innovative and smart technologies.

The Center Connected Industry brings together expertise on Industry 4.0 from industry and research to develop directly applicable, innovative industry solutions in agile cooperation with our members. To evaluate the value of future technologies, we draw on a unique ecosystem of Innovation Labs and real production environments. There we can design, test and integrate innovative information systems. Our goal is to bundle relevant key technologies and components in an Industry 4.0 building block, thus enabling the industrial use of scalable and networked information systems at the push of a button.

Together with item, we are pushing the vision of a digital, networked factory of the future. The modularization of the components is intended to enable every user to implement Industry 4.0 quickly and easily. Building on the mutual  exchange of experience within the CCI community, joint consortium projects are being carried out on topics such as 5G, Industrial IoT, edge-based data analysis, Automated Guided Vehicles and smart sensor systems. These projects involve the development of cyber-physical systems based on the item Building Kit System and incorporating innovative technologies. These are tested and further developed in the Demonstration Factory Aachen or by fellow members until they can be incorporated into the item product portfolio. In this way, companies of all sizes are offered lean, safe and universal solutions for automation and intralogistics.

We are looking forward to working with item and hope for a successful and productive cooperation.
